Ronald "The Career Ender" Humphrey is now a perfect 5-0 as a professional welterweight — and officially UFC-bound. On Dana White's Contender Series this week, Humphrey put on a dominant performance against Alexis Miranda, mixing punishing ground-and-pound with relentless pressure before locking in a rear-naked choke to finish the fight at 4:03 of round one. It was his fifth straight finish as a pro, and it earned him a UFC contract on the spot.
Training out of American Top Team Sandy Springs, Humphrey continues to fight with the same relentless, finish-first style that's defined his career — he's yet to see a judges' scorecard as a pro. The win adds a new dimension to his game, too: after four straight TKOs, including a first-round stoppage of Liam Hamill this past March, Humphrey showed he can also get it done on the mat, grinding out the finish once the fight hit the ground.
Humphrey used The Contender Series to punch his ticket to the UFC, and now heads into the biggest chapter of his career as one of the most dangerous prospects to hit the roster.
